To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS St. Catharines experienced severe flooding between July 21 and August 2, 2026, causing widespread damage and leaving residents with significant uninsured losses;
WHEREAS the Province activated Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) following the July 1, 2026 flooding in parts of Ottawa;
WHEREAS many St. Catharines residents continue to face major cleanup and repair costs, while current DRAO rules can exclude residents based on how floodwater entered their homes;
WE, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:
- Immediately activate DRAO for St. Catharines residents affected by the July 21 to August 2 flooding; and
- Ensure residents with comparable uninsured losses have fair access to disaster assistance, whether flooding resulted from overland water or overwhelmed municipal sewer systems.
