St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens bringing up the issue of clinker dust in the legislature.
After sending a letter to the Environment Minister and not receiving an answer, the NDP MPP demanded to know yesterday what the province plans to do to stop the clinker dust plaguing the Port Weller community.
The dust, used to make concrete, is stored at the Port Weller Marine Terminal.
Despite efforts to keep it contained, residents have been complaining it becomes airborne covering their cars and homes.
Stevens telling the province, there are documented health risks from the dust.
She also notes property values are decreasing and people can't sell their homes because of the dust problem.
Environment Minister Rod Phillips says he is willing to meet with Stevens to address her concerns.
